What music means to me

In seemingly every belief system, the creation of the universe is said to have originated from a sound.  Whether it be referred to as the voice of God or as the Big Bang, it can be said that the universe began and consists of vibrational sound waves.  Since I can remember I have been brought up listening to music.  I think of music as an essential part of life, one as vital as the air we breathe.  Good music awakens the primal nature of our soul and reminds us of what it means to be human.  The fact that musical vibrations can be felt by someone who is deaf goes to show just how deeply music resonates with the human body.  Music is at its best when it is written with genuine intentions and isn't made for the sole purpose of profit.  Today I feel many musicians and people in general are too scared to go against the grain.  Musical ideas are becoming stagnant and repetitive.  It seems almost every new band comes out sounding like a rehashed version of another band, all for the sake of sounding accessible.  Quality music is an extension of your inner self being translated into sound, not something that is prepackaged and sent off to the nearest club.  While I do enjoy some of today's music, I can tell the difference between a novelty song and one that was played from the heart.  You can hear it in the vibrations.
